"Majestic Pelican's Perch"

Inspired by a recent visit to our friends' vacation home at Lake Rosemound, Louisiana. I had been thinking of creating a pelican piece. And when I saw a beautiful art piece of a pelican flying in their living room, I decided to wait no longer.

The background and basic shape of the pelican was wet felting - and I also added a little bit of silk fabric using a nuno felting technique. I then freehanded all of the details of the pelican by pushing wool fibers into the background with a needle.
